Sencha is a steamed green tea made from whole leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). It brews a bright green-gold cup with a fresh, grassy, slightly sweet flavor and a clean finish. Unlike matcha, which is ground into powder, sencha is steeped from the whole leaf.
Traditional Use: Sencha has been Japan’s most widely enjoyed everyday tea since the 18th century. Unlike the formal matcha tea ceremony, sencha was traditionally enjoyed informally at home and often outdoors to mark the changing seasons.
Ingredients: Organic sencha green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis).
Size: 4 oz.
Suggested use: Steep 1 teaspoon of leaves in 8 oz of hot water (160–175°F, not boiling) for 1–2 minutes. Strain and enjoy. Leaves can be re-steeped 2–3 times. For iced tea, brew as directed and pour over ice.
Caution: Naturally contains caffeine. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or nursing, taking medication, sensitive to caffeine, or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. Store in an airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture.
