Experts are scratching their heads over a 13-foot-long mystery creature found washed up on a Mexico beach.
The dead animal appeared on Bonfil Beach in Acapulco in the southwestern Mexico state of Guerrero, where the El Niño weather system has been affecting currents.
Rosa Comacho, coordinator of the Civil Guard and Fire Brigade, told Yahoo News she’s not sure how long the animal was dead before it was found.
“We have no idea what type of animal this is, but I do know that it does not smell bad or have a fetid aroma,” Comacho said.
Video footage uploaded to YouTube shows the hulking, decaying gray mass.
AOL Travel speculated the creature could be a whale or squid.
