How to meditate for struggling beginners: get yourself a bead string

I got myself a tibetan mala(buddhist bead string, typically consists of 108 beads and a “head bead”) and it has helped me tremendously. I couldnt concentrate on a meditation for shit before, even in complete silence, but now I can do it in all kinds of places, public transport even! Tbh I’m really baffled as to why almost none of the meditation guides mention this.

You don’t really need them to be specifically buddhist beads, honestly, any kind of beads(muslim, christian) will help you. Although buddhist beads are better because a) they are small as they are and b) you can get an even smaller, “portable” variant with around 20 beads that you can wear around your wrist like a bracelet. And you don’t have to repeat mantras or prayers either, just breathe and move the bead.

Breath in.

Breath out.

Move the bead.

If you are an experienced meditator, it’s worth trying, you’ll probably like it.

Breath in.

Breath out.

Move the bead.
