Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a familiar flowering plant in the daisy family, found throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Its long taproot is harvested, dried, and cut, and brews a dark, earthy tea with a pleasantly bitter, slightly sweet flavor.
Traditional Use: Roasted dandelion root has long been brewed as a coffee substitute in Europe and North America, especially during times when coffee was scarce, and remains a popular caffeine-free alternative today.
Ingredients: Organic dandelion root (Taraxacum officinale).
Size: 4 oz.
Suggested use: Simmer 1 teaspoon of dried root in 8-10 oz of water for 10-15 minutes. Strain and enjoy, plain or with milk and honey. Enjoy 1-2 times daily. For a coffee-style drink, lightly roast the root in a dry pan before simmering. Can also be added to soups and stews while cooking.
Caution: Not for use by anyone who is pregnant or nursing, or by children. May interact with medications; do not use if taking lithium, and consult a healthcare provider before use if you are taking any medication, especially antibiotics, diuretics, or blood-thinning medication, or have a medical condition. Avoid if allergic to plants in the daisy family (such as ragweed, chamomile, or chrysanthemums). Discontinue use if any adverse reaction occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place.
