Bentonite clay is formed from aged volcanic ash and is named after Fort Benton, Montana, home to one of the largest known deposits. It is a fine, odorless, grey-cream powder that mixes easily with water into a smooth paste. It’s a popular ingredient in homemade face masks, clay baths, and handmade soaps, where it helps draw oil and dirt from the skin’s surface and gives soap a silky feel.
